Plum-Berry Compote

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups red wine
1/2 cup water
1 pound plums
1 pint blackberries
1/2 medium peel of 1/2 orange
3 pieces cinnamon sticks
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup port
1 pint whipped cream
 

Preparation:

In non-aluminum saucepan heat wine and water until simmering. Add plums, orange peel, cinnamon sticks, allspice and sugar. Cook, simmering for about 6 minutes. Add blackberries. Cook 2 minutes. Stir gently. Add port. Pour into serving bowls. Let cool. Serve with whipped cream. Approximately 8-10 minutes.
