Most important commercial pear is the Bartlett, a medium-size bell shaped pear, yellow with a red blush, available July-mid-October. Winter varieties; Bose, Large with tapering neck, dark yellow overlaid with cinnamon russet; Comice, large and roundish, greenish yellow to yellow with red; Winter Nelis, medium size with russet dots on yellow-green; Anjou, large, chunky and yellowish green, most common of all. |
