Preparation:
1. Drain cherries, reserving juice; add water to make 1 cup liquid.
2. In small saucepan, mix together sugar and cornstarch; gradually stir in cherry juice until smooth.
3. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly; boil 1 minute.
4. Add cherries and lemon juice; keep warm.
5. Just before serving, add brandy, if desired, and ignite. After flame dies down, spoon over ice cream or cake a la mode. |
