Serves: 6

Ingredients:

16 ounces ziti pasta
2 teaspoons olive oil
28 ounces prepared pasta sauce
1 large egg
1 cup ricotta cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
6 ounces Mozzarella cheese -- shredded, divided

Preparation:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook pasta according to package directions; drain. Combine pasta and olive oil in a large bowl; toss lightly. Grease a large baking dish. 2. Add pasta sauce to bowl; mix well. Spread 1/2 of pasta mixture in prepared baking dish. 3. Mix egg, ricotta, and Parmesan in a bowl; spread over pasta. Sprinkle half of Mozzarella over top. Spread remaining pasta mixture over top. 4. Sprinkle remaining Mozzarella over pasta. Bake until heated through and cheese is bubbly, about 20 minutes. VARIATION: For a hot and spicy version, add 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes to the pasta after mixing in the sauce in step 2. MAKE AHEAD: To freeze this dish, line a baking dish with foil, overlapping sides. Prepare ziti through step 4, but do not bake; freeze. Lift ziti out with flaps; wrap and freeze.
