Preparation:
Pat pickles dry with paper towels and slice into 1/2-inch chunks. Place one-half of pickles in large, shallow baking dish or plastic container with a lid, sprinkle with garlic powder and one-half of allspice, sliced garlic and sugar. Add another layer pickles and sprinkle with remaining spices and sugar. Cover and let container stand at room temperature two to three days, stirring occasionally. Pickles will be dry at first, but eventually a liquid will form. When all sugar has dissolved, spoon pickles back into original jar. |
