Preparation:
* TO MAKE QUICK COOKING OUT OF OLD-FASHIONED-WHIZ IN BLENDER FOR A FEW SECONDS TO BREAK INTO SMALLER PIECES
Cream together shortening, granulated sugar, and brown sugar till light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each, add vanilla. Thoroughly stir together flour, salt, baking soda and cinnamon, stir into creamed mixture. Stir in oats and walnuts. Shape dough into two 8-inch rolls. Wrap in waxed paper or clear plastic wrap. Chill thoroughly. Cut into 1/4-inch slices. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen.
Notes: For making square cookies, pack dough into any empty foil, waxed paper or platic wrap box lined with foil. Boy, I sure have plenty of those!! |
