Preparation:
Sift flour with soda, spices and salt. Cream shortening, sugars and egg together well. Stir in molasses, then flour mixture. Mix in walnuts. Shape into balls about 1 1/2 inches diameter and roll in sugar. Place about 6 inches apart on well greased baking sheets and flatten to circles about 3 1/2 inches diameter. Bake at 350 degrees F. about 10 to 12 minutes or until tops of cookies spring back when touched lightly. Allow to stand on baking sheet a minutes; using broad spatula, remove to wire cooling rack. |
